I have a lot to be thankful for this year. My family has grown with the birth of my little boy, everyone is healthy, and we continue to enjoy wonderful opportunities to share our lives with friends and families. I just wanted to wish a very Happy Thanksgiving to everyone out there!
I also wanted to share a little love from our good friend Bill O’Reilly about us iPod users and geeks — what is it with these people and their hate for the little MP3 player (yes, that is all it really is)? After the CEO of Universal called me a criminal, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised that Bill’s Thanksgiving wish for me is to compare me to a terrorist because I listen to an iPod and share a passion for technology. Enjoy Bill’s iPod Thanksgiving wishes:
“I don’t own an iPod. I would never wear an iPod … If this is your primary focus in life — the machines … it’s going to have a staggeringly negative effect, all of this, for America. Did you ever talk to these computer geeks? I mean, can you carry on a conversation with them? I really fear for the United States because, believe me, the jihadists? They’re not playing the video games. They’re killing real people over there.”
O’Reilly is a buffoon. I can’t believe anyone still listens to him after that whole loofa/falafel thing…
Here’s a message I left for Mr. O’Reilly:
Mr. O’Reilly,
I am a huge fan of your show and that’s a rare thing, coming from a 21 year old American college student. Currently, I’m enrolled in the Marine Corps PLC program and hope to someday become an Officer of Marines. Your comments about the iPod being an escapist device are somewhat true, however, it doesn’t mean that those who listen to iPods are out of touch with reality. Not only do I listen to music on the iPod, but I listen to news Podcasts and view other quality media as well. I am a motivated individual, and the iPod helps to keep me motivated and also lets me stay away from dealing with much of the American public that actually doesn’t have a clue about reality. I know what’s going on in the world and that is why I am choosing to serve our country. The 30% of America that really tries and is motivated to solve real problems and be truly progressive is worth defending with 100% of my being. The majority of America that is tuned out and apathetic about world affairs, well, they may listen to the iPod too.
Fact is, the iPod is just a very popular device, and there are tons of different kinds of people listening to it.
Prospective Marines included.
Thank you,

Chris, well said. Maybe you should have a show on TV to discuss fair and balanced thinking. Happy Thanksgiving!
Cole, thanks! I know this is late but I hope you had a great Thanksgiving, I know mine was good (except for the whole camping out and not getting a PS3 on Black Friday, thing).
Anyway, I may never be able to get a TV show, but one thing’s for sure: my email to O’Reilly will NEVER be read on-the-air.
